DESCRIPTION: Learn ways to teach your dog fun behaviors of trick and other maneuvers beyond the basic obedience exercises. Learn some basic movements used in free-style dancing with your dog. Class introduces principles and use of operant conditioning using positive reinforcement without use of corrections. Luring, targeting, and the proper use of food and toys will be discussed.

PREREQUISITES:

• Successful completion of Household I or equivalent

DESCRIPTION: This class is focuses on the skills needed to be a good canine citizen.  The CGC test is open to all dogs - purebred or mixed breed. The class and the CGC test focuses on teaching the basics of good manners and obedience.  At the end, if successful in preparation, the dog/handler team should be able to pass a Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test.  Ten skills are required during a CGC test: accepting a friendly stranger; sitting politely for petting; walking on a loose leash; willingly accept grooming; walk confidently thru a crowd; sit stay and down stay without moving; coming when called; behave politely when approached by another person with a dog; reaction to a distraction (e.g., dropped object/loud noise); willingly stay with a stranger while handler is out of sight.

REGISTRATION IS BY DOG.  DO NOT REGISTER A SECOND PERSON - YOU WILL END UP BEING CHARGED TWICE.

PREREQUISITES:

• Successful completion of 5-12 puppy or Household 1
• Dog must be up-to-date on vaccinations;  
• Dog should be over 6 months in age

DESCRIPTION:  This is a class focusing on skills that will help your dog compete in flyball.  Flyball is a relay team sport that has been compared to drag racing with your dog.  The countdown lights start the race between 2 teams of 4 dogs, which in turn, race over low hurdles to retrieve a ball from a spring-loaded box, and race back over the same hurdles to their handler. Once they are back the next dog goes.  The first team to have all their dogs successfully complete the course wins the race.

The class will familiarize entry-level and beginner dogs (and their handlers) with the fundamentals of flyball training.  Successful completion of the class will provide them with the foundation upon which they can build before progessing to participation in flyball competitions.

All levels are welcome

• Successful completion of Puppy or Household class or equivalent
• Must be up-to-date on vaccinations. 
• Possess a solid sit/stay and recall
