DESCRIPTION: Continuation of skills learned in Novice 1. Increasing distance and proofing of handler/dog team, as appropriate. Work on precision of Novice exercises. Continuing to work on stand for examine, heeling change of pace, heeling with turns, Figure 8, stays. Class can be repeated.
PREREQUISITE: (one or more of the following)
- Novice I equivalent;
- Instructor approval.
WHAT TO BRING:
- Copy of vaccination records;
- 4-6 ft leash;
- Buckle collar;
- Variety of small, easy to eat treats.
253-101 OBEDIENCE HOUSEHOLD I

DESCRIPTION: Thi class is designed to teach basic control (age appropriate) in a variety of situations with distractions. Exercises taught include sit, down, stand, stay, come and controlled walking on a leash. Focus is on household manners to help dog adapt to family life. May also include basic problem solving (e.g., chewing, jumping up, etc.). Most classes use food (soft treats) or silent toys in training. This class may be repeated.
PLEASE DO NOT REGISTER A SECOND PERSON (though they are welcome to attend) - YOU WILL END UP BEING CHARGED TWICE

- Dog must be up-to-date on vaccinations.
- Must be older than 6 months

DESCRIPTION: The Novice or Open exercises are not “taught” in these classes. When offered, these classes expect that handler/dog team has completed all necessary training for the exercises at the level and only needs additional proofing/practice opportunities. A proofing/practice class may cover more than one level in same class.
PREREQUISITE: (at least one of the following)
- Successful completion of Novice;
- Competing at the Novice (CD) level;
- Instructor approval.

Introduction of off-leash heeling. If time permits, introduction of Open-level skills of retrieving and jumping and Utility signals. Class can be repeated.

Introduction to drop on recall, dumbbell retrieving, open-level jumping, and command discrimination exercises. As the handler/dog team progress, distractions and proofing will be done as appropriate. Class can be repeated.
Class Schedule: This class will meet every other week.

Continuation of Open and Utility exercises are covered in this classes. When offered, this class expects that handler/dog team has been introduced and able to perform the Open and/or Utility exercises, though maybe not perfected as when ready to show.

- Introduction of the Open and Utility exercises, including retrieving
- Competing or ready to compete at the Novice level (CD)
- Or Instructor approval
REGISTRATION PRIORITY: Early Registration priority will be given to students in the previous session (same day/time/instructor) of this class.
