263-510 - AGILITY FOUNDATIONS FOR COMPETITION 2

DESCRIPTION: Agility is a fun event for the dog and handler. Basic control skills are required before beginning agility training. This class helps develop the handler/dog relationship, playing with the dog with/without toys. Minimum skills to be covered include: when/how to reward; motivation and focus in distracting environments; develop jumping skills; exposure to teeter, weaves, tunnel, and tire. The handler/dog need to successfully complete these exercises and safely exhibit the foundations of the class to progress to Agility Foundations 2. If they have not, they should retake Agility Foundations 1.
PREREQUISITES:
- Dog over 6 months of age
- Successful completion of Obedience Household 1 or equivalent
- Solid sit stay and/or down stay
- Solid recall when exposed to distractions
- Willingness to remain in a crate without whining or barking
WHAT TO BRING:
- Copy of vaccination records
- Buckle collar
- 4-6 foot leash
- Variety of hard treats (that do not crumble easily)
- Crate for the dog when not working on the course
- Extra pair of clean shoes to be used when training on the turf

260-005E 10-18 WKS FRIDAY PUPPY - MAY EARLY
with Various Instructors
DESCRIPTION: For Puppies who are 10-18 weeks old on the first day of class. This class is held on Friday evenings. It is a 4-week class with a new session beginning the first Friday of each month, except December. The puppy level classes also include basic problem solving (e.g., chewing, jumping up, etc.). Most classes use food (soft treats) or silent toys in training. The class includes an introduction on the tasks of sit, down, come, and walking on a loose leash.
NOTE: For the May class Puppy must be born between December 26, 2025 and February 20, 2026
While participants will be limited to two people per puppy to keep room occupancy low, DO NOT REGISTER THE SECOND PERSON - YOU WILL END UP BEING CHARGED TWICE.
PREREQUISITES:
- Puppy must be between the ages of 10-18 weeks old on the first day of class;
- Puppy must have completed the 2nd series of vaccination shots (generally includes Distemper and Parvovirus, (Bordatella and Leptospirosis based on your vet's recommendations) Proof of Rabies Vaccination not required for this age group;
- Must have a negative fecal prior to the start of class and after your puppy was brought home; or if the last fecal was positive, you have documentation that treatment is complete or a letter from your Veterinarian stating that you puppy is safe for class
WHAT TO BRING:
- Copy of updated vaccination records;
- 4-6 ft leash;
- Buckle collar; a harness is not a good device for control, especially in a room of puppies, so please do not plan on bringing your puppy in a harness. If you need an exception, then please discuss with the instructor on the first night of class
- Variety of small, easy to eat treats.

263-230 OBEDIENCE NOVICE/OPEN PRACTICE

DESCRIPTION: The Novice or Open exercises are not “taught” in these classes. When offered, these classes expect that handler/dog team has completed all necessary training for the exercises at the level and only needs additional proofing/practice opportunities. A proofing/practice class may cover more than one level in same class.
PREREQUISITE: (at least one of the following)
- Successful completion of Novice;
- Competing at the Novice (CD) level;
- Instructor approval.
WHAT TO BRING:
- Copy of vaccination records;
- 4-6 ft leash; buckle collar;
- Variety of small, easy to eat treats.
- Dumbell sized to specific dog.

263-102 OBEDIENCE HOUSEHOLD I
with K. Eaton
DESCRIPTION: Thi class is designed to teach basic control (age appropriate) in a variety of situations with distractions. Exercises taught include sit, down, stand, stay, come and controlled walking on a leash. Focus is on household manners to help dog adapt to family life. May also include basic problem solving (e.g., chewing, jumping up, etc.). Most classes use food (soft treats) or silent toys in training. This class may be repeated.
PREREQUISITES:
- Must be older than 6 months
- No class training prerequisites.
- Dog must be up-to-date on vaccinations. A copy of a vet receipt showing the shot vaccination dates is sufficient and/or copy of the Health Form (found on the website (www.aadtc.net) under Class Schedule - Ann Arbor Dog Training Club)
- Must provide a recent negative fecal report within the last two (2) months

- Copy of vaccination records and negative fecal report;
- 4-6 ft leash; buckle collar;
- Variety of small, easy to eat treats.
263-522 - AGILITY BEGINNING HANDLING 2 (continuing)

DESCRIPTION: The skills introduced in Agility Foundations 2 will continue to be covered in Agility Beginning Handling. New skills to be introduced include: additional crosses (rear, blind); increasing jump heights; short sequences; sequences with contacts or weaves or tunnels.
PREREQUISITES:
- Successful completion of Agility Foundations 2
- Solid sit stay and/or down stay
- Solid recall when exposed to distractions
- Able to perform a front cross
- Able to achieve a start line stay
- Able to perform a short jump sequence

- Ready to compete at the Excellent, Master or Premier Level
- Instructor approval

DESCRIPTION: This class is designed for teams competing in or ready to compete in the upper level classes (Excellent/Master). Teams will practice sequences found in Excellent/Master courses and will continue to refine handling skills so that they can successfully perform at the upper levels of agility.
PREREQUISITES (at least one of the following):
- Successful completion of Agility Open Level or an Open Agility title
- Competing at the Excellent or Master level
- Ready to compete at the Excellent level
- Instructor approval

263-431 - SCENTWORK BEGINNING CONTINUING

DESCRIPTION: This class follows Introduction to Odor. This class continues to build on the scentwork team's search skills in search elements -- containers, interiors, exteriors, and vehicles. Buried search may be introduced, if there is class interest. The complexity of the searches will gradually become more difficult. The method of how to introduce a second odor will be covered.
PREREQUISITES: (one or more of the following
- Successful completion of Scentwork Introduction III - Odor
- Instructor permission
